My name's Ruby and I'm one of the people who will be blogging with you this summer for the Summer Learning Journey. You have made a good start to your letter here. I like how you talked about being nervous. A lot of settlers moving to a new land would be very nervous!
I wonder if you could talk about some things that they might have been looking forward to about New Zealand? I would have been looking forward to having my feet on solid land after such a long trip in a Waka! Have you ever been in a boat before?

Greetings Ruby I've been in a boat before, when i was in the Philippines. When i was in the boat i felt nervous, because i was thinking if there were sharks around. Then my aunt told me there is no sharks. When i hear what my aunt told me i calm down.
That's awesome! I feel the same way when I'm in a boat sometimes. It takes me a while to settle in. And I also get very sea sick so my favourite part of being in a boat is getting out!
